The Biomass Boiler Safety Technical Symposium Held in Nanjing

From May 8th to 11th, 2024, the Biomass Boiler Safety Technical Symposium, sponsored by the China Boiler and Boiler Water Treatment Association (referred to as the "China Boiler Association"), co-sponsored by the Biomass Energy Professional Committee of the Jiangsu Renewable Energy Society, and organized by Nanjing RuiKong Automation Co., Ltd. and Dalian Sunshine Boiler Auxiliary Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Nanjing.
The meeting was attended by Guo Yuanliang, Chief Advisor of the China Boiler Association, Wang Jiaoling, Secretary General of the China Boiler Association, Liu Xinzhi, Director of the Biomass Energy Professional Committee of the Jiangsu Renewable Energy Society, Qiu Yanfei, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Special Equipment Testing Research Institute, and Liang Guoan, Former Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Special Equipment Safety Supervision and Inspection Institute. Representatives from boiler manufacturing, burner manufacturing, burner testing, igniter manufacturing, and other related enterprises participated in the meeting. Members of the biomass energy team from the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, representatives from Nanjing RuiKong Automation Co., Ltd. (a manufacturer of automatic control equipment for biomass combustion devices), and representatives from Dalian Sunshine Boiler Auxiliary Co., Ltd. (a manufacturer of biomass grate furnaces) also attended the meeting.
During the symposium, representatives discussed and exchanged views on technical requirements for active emission devices, hazardous combustion condition warning devices, powder channels, heating surfaces, and other aspects of biomass boilers. They also had a lively discussion on the draft technical standards for "active emission devices."
Throughout the conference, participants visited biomass charcoal cogeneration boiler rooms under the National Power Investment Group, conducted on-site investigations on the application of active emission devices in actual furnaces, and inspected the current situation of biomass charcoal cogeneration combustion equipment and industrial applications.
Additionally, representatives visited the Zhishan Base of Nanjing Agricultural University during the conference, conducted a detailed investigation into the current application of biomass charcoal in agriculture, and discussed relevant technical issues regarding biomass boilers using grassy and straw-like biomass fuels.
Through field observations and investigations, participants gained a deeper understanding that due to the specificity of biomass fuels, the safety issues of biomass boilers are fundamentally different from those of coal, oil, and gas boilers. Currently, driven by the promotion of green and low-carbon transformation in the energy industry, the application of biomass boilers is rapidly developing, and the safety issues of biomass boilers urgently need to be addressed.
